We have part time GNA positions available in our Memory Support neighborhood. Positions available: Day and Evening shifts. 

 

Job Summary:

The Memory Care Geriatric Nursing Assistant (MCGNA) provides a variety of services to maintain and support activities of daily living for our residents under the supervision of an LPN and/or RN. This position is based on the principles of integrated nursing, and includes providing social interaction, community connection, support, personal care, and other tasks as designated. The MCGNA is responsible for providing resident directed care, exceptional customer service, utilizing courtesy, dignity, and respect in all of the following responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide person directed care services including; bathing, dressing grooming, toileting, positioning, transferring, and other care as designated
  • Assist residents in dining, help them with eating or deliver meals as needed and assist with meal clean up
  • Provide other services as assigned including skin and incontinence care, assisting with prosthetics, nail care, functional skills, and, as necessary, any observations/monitoring needed
  • Engage residents and provide psychosocial support through social interaction at scheduled and unscheduled informal recreational activities
  • Be present with the resident and strive to anticipate needs in holistic sense
  • Exhibit genuine respect and care for the wellbeing of each resident
  • Engage resident's family and friends and take time to visit with them
  • Follow strict HIPAA policies and procedures to ensure resident privacy
  • Respond in an immediate and timely way to unexpected/emergency situations that arise outside of the daily assignment, including emergency response system calls for residents, security issues, and falls
  • Respond to and report changes in resident health status and/or any recommendations for change that should be made to the resident plan of care
  • Complete thorough daily charting requirements; initial all care given, document refusal of care, and provide signature in designated signature section
  • Immediately report any suspected resident abuse or neglect per defined procedures
  • Communicate any community maintenance problems, hazards, and/or problems with equipment
  • Assist team members as needed; aid in orientation of new team members and cooperate with non-community team members who provide services
  • Collaborate with other team members
  • Complete all training programs by assigned due date(s)
  • Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and professional appearance as all team members are a visual representation of Ingleside at King Farm
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:       

  • Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant Program and GNA certification
  • Certification and current registration as a nursing assistant (12 hours per year of in-service training)
  • Basic Life Support Certificate and First Aid Training
  • Compassion for the elderly and commitment to hospitality, service, and excellence in care
  • Certified as a Dementia Practitioner within first month of hire
  • Ability to read, write, and follow verbal directions in English
  • Ability to effectively use and learn technology
  • Flexibility I scheduling; hours, shifts, and assignments
  • Ability to work independently as well as be an effective member on a team
  • Ability to be a responsible and dependable team member
  • Ability to remain patient and kind during challenging resident behaviors, difficult circumstances and remain calm in emergencies
  • Ability to set appropriate boundaries in working with residents and their families while at the same time being warm, available, and present to residents and families
  • Ability to maintain information as confidential and private
